topDNS Best Practice Series: How to reduce Abuse through Quality
Public Interest Registry (PIR), Realtime Register & eco's topDNS Initiative
invite you to the first in a series of topDNS best practice webinars to showcase what the domain name industry is doing to fight DNS abuse.
In 2019, Public Interest Registry (PIR), the registry for the .ORG top level domain, launched an incentive programme with domain registrars to combat DNS abuse and improve the quality of the .ORG domain space.
The concept is to improve the quality of registered domain names, resulting in higher renewal rates for expiring domain names (a key financial goal for registrars). The programme provides registrars with tools and best practices to improve the quality of registered .org domains and creates a "Quality Performance Index" (QPI) scorecard to measure results.
Brian Cimbolic, PIR's Vice President, General Counsel will introduce you to QPI, show you the indicators measured and give you an overview of the success and development of the programme not only for registrars but also for other registries.
Theo Geurts, CIPP/E Privacy & GRC Officer at Realtime Register will show you how the QPI programme can be implemented at a domain name registrar, what impact it has on domain registrations and renewals, and how it will improve the health of the portfolio of .ORG domain names under management.
