The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) Nominating Committee has announced their decisions for nine leadership positions. The selectees reflect a variety of cultural and geographical backgrounds, and were chosen unanimously from a field of over 100 candidates. Lawyer Thomas Rickert, who represents the interests of eco members from the domain industry in his role as eco’s Director Names & Numbers, was chosen to continue for a further two years as a member of the Council of the Generic Names Supporting Organization (GNSO).
The GNSO Council drives policy development for generic Top Level Domains and as a result also for the new endings which are currently being implemented. “We are very pleased that the renowned domains expert Thomas Rickert will continue to contribute to the creation of sensible conditions for suppliers and users, and to give voice to European interests on the international floor”, said Prof. Michael Rotert, Chairman of the Board at eco e.V.
