The initiative dotHIV is bringing the red ribbon to the Internet – with the domain ending .hiv. Since August 2014 companies and organizations have been registering the Top-Level Domain, as a symbol of solidarity and as a contribution towards supporting people with the immunodeficiency virus. From the registration fee, at least 70 percent is channeled into innovative initiatives designed to improve access to life-saving treatments. One focus for the help from the Internet is projects which make use of new digital technologies for their work.
