After dismissing their initial ‚digital archery,‘ ICANN decided to let a draw determine in what order applications for new Top Level Domains (TLDs) will be processed. The results of this draw can be viewed online. ICANN named the result list ‚Preliminary Prioritization Drawing Results.‘ It shows the order in which applications most likely will be handled. The success of new TLDs largely will depend on this list: if two TLDs compete for the same target audience and one of them is approved earlier than the other one, there will be a clear advantage for the first. The new TLDs will be available from mid 2013. Priority will be given to the so-called IDNs: TLDs containing non-ASCII characters such as ‚.vermögensberater‘.
